I just want to say that I was never really an Amy Winehouse fan…but I did appreciate her talent. It’s not shocking at all to me that she has passed away. When you live your life on a path of self-destruction, it’s rare to not end up where she did. But that doesn’t make it any less tragic. Or sad. I don’t like to see any young person leave this earth so soon, especially when they have so much potential. But I hope her tortured soul can find some peace now.

There’s a wonderful quote from Amy that I want to share, regarding Michael Jackson. I love that she was a fan.

“You know how you either grow up in a Michael Jackson house or a Prince house?” says Winehouse, whose accent reveals her north London roots. “For me it was Michael Jackson. I could never decide whether I wanted to be Michael Jackson or marry him. I don’t care what people say about him now because he’s a fucking genius. That’s it – the end! He was robbed of his childhood, which is why he surrounds himself with children. When you’re around kids you can be a little kid yourself and pretend that life is magic and you don’t have to be one of those sweaty people going to work every day. I completely see what he’s doing.”

The Saturday Scream

Once upon a time, my Saturday started off like any normal day.
I was calm. Rested.

Things were good in the land of Tinalicious. The Hubs and me, we were, you know, carefree and happy to be heading to Fort Wayne for dinner and a little shopping.

So we mozy’d on out to the car.

But then I decided I’d like to grab a Michael Jackson CD from my studio outside. After all, road trips are always better with some MJ tunes playing.

So I went into my studio, and headed for my stereo and CD’s. But WTH?!
My stereo was GONE!

I don’t think I have to tell you what I did next…

Needless to say, I was so ticked. I was having bad thoughts about the low-life thieves who went into my studio, touched my things (EWW!),
and then took my stereo!

But I knew I had to calm down. So I took a moment to pause and collect myself. And I needed to figure out what to do to replace my stereo, which was almost brand new.

Then it kind of hit me. I knew what to do. I bit my lip, I was so excited.

I am sick of CD’s, AND my cell phone is eligible for upgrade in just a few weeks. So the solution is really quite simple: mp3 player + phone = iPhone! Yay!

So the Hubs is gonna get me an iPhone.
This calls for a Happy Dance, don’t you think?

And now all is well in the land of Tinalicious once again.
And the moral of the story, boys and girls?
Thieves are pathetic losers and they may make you SCREAM.
But sometimes you may end up with a new iPhone.
And maybe even a lollipop.

MJ Macros 3-21

I really need my Michael Jackson Macros this Monday. When I need a little giggle to get me going, these always do it for me. So I just picked a few random ones I’ve found on the Web and have saved. Hope you’ll enjoy them as you start your week, and hope you get a little giggle too.

This first one is Pepsi related. Pepsi was a long time sponsor and supporter of Michael Jackson. But fans like to joke that MJ didn’t even like Pepsi. Not sure if there’s any truth to it, but if there is, that makes this macro even more funny.

Lots of fans find it just a wee bit humorous that Michael’s brother, Jermaine named one of his sons Jermajesty. One has to stop and wonder if MJ did too.

And for this one, it doesn’t need much explanation. If Michael’s fans got all worked up about standing next to their idol, the King of Pop, why wouldn’t a member of the animal kingdom?!

This last one I love. MJ was very close to his little sister, Janet. And based on what’s been said about the relationship, I could totally see this happening.

Meet Me on Monday 2-28

Here it is 1am on Tuesday and I’m doing a Meet Me on Monday post. Ain’t it great that we can edit when our posts get published? I can just edit it to be posted yesterday. Wish I could do that with laundry…click a button and it was all done yesterday. Wouldn’t that rock?

What are you wearing right now?

This really could be easily confused with some seriously unsolicited phone sex should this question be taken out of context, but I’ll go ahead and answer. Ahem. I’m wearing what I consider to be pajamas–since I don’t own an actual pair of pajamas. I’m wearing blue sweatpants and a burgundy-colored thermal shirt that is a couple of sizes too big for me. It is beyond comfortable, though has absolutely zero chance of ever being confused with come-hither-attire in the Hubs’ eyes. But what can I say? It’s winter, and I wanna be warm. The French Maid costume [chortle, cough, gafaw] will just have to stay in the closet until Summer.

Do you have any freckles?

No.

What is your favorite Lifesavers flavor?

I honestly cannot even tell you when I had my last Lifesaver. Do people still eat those? But if I was going to eat one, given free reign to choose any flavor on the planet, I’m sure I’d pick Lime. Or Green Apple. No, definitely Lime. Hmm. Both of those flavors are green in color. Is that weird? What does that say about me? Does it carry the same connotation as the damn green M & M’s? Questions to ponder on this fine “Monday” evening, to be sure.

What is the last movie you saw at the theater?

I hate when someone asks me this. Only because the older I get, the harder it is for me to remember what the last movie I saw at the theater was. Even if it was just a few weeks ago! I can remember what I wore to the theater. I can remember that it was overcast that day. I can even remember eating a soft pretzel as the movie started. But can I remember the name of the damn movie we saw? NO! Thank goodness for movie stubs. I keep movie stubs. [No judgment.] It was Season of the Witch. Ahh yes, Nicolas Cage. I have a little bit of a thing for him ~~and I’d sure whip out the French Maid costume for him~~. But all bias aside, it was still a good flick on a Sunday afternoon.

Would you rather live without TV or without music?

Now at first, this was a rather tough question for me. I actually don’t watch that much TV anymore, but I’d definitely miss the ~~Real Housewives~~ DIY channel and ~~Jersey Shore~~ American Pickers and the Food Network if I couldn’t watch them. Still though, I think I’d miss music more. I have music playing a lot when I’m in my office ~~blogging~~ working, or creating in my studio, or doing housework and such. I just don’t think I could do those things without music playing no matter how hard I tried. And besides, if I don’t get my dose of Michael Jackson at least once a week, then Tina is not so Tinalicious anymore. So yeah, I guess if I had to, I’d choose to live without TV. After all…no one said I couldn’t still watch movies, right?

So I think it’s clear that Fergie is indeed channeling her inner Michael Jackson. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Lots of stars do it. Even if they won’t admit it. But it’s all good. You know what they say…imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Some people even make whole careers out of it.
