10 Mostly Realistic Resolutions for 2020

It's a New Year, people. And what's more, it's also a new decade. If that doesn't demand a list of mostly realistic resolutions, then I'm not sure what does. So, in the spirit of new years, new decades, new beginnings, and new blog designs (what can I say, flying pigs are my spirit animal)...I bring you my 10 Mostly Realistic Resolutions for 2020.

As ever, in no particular order...

1.  I will Facebook less. Let me say first that I don't think there's anything wrong with Facebook. Most of my family live in other states, so FB is the primary way I keep in contact with them. It's great to be able to see photos of them and chat back and forth to keep up on their daily doings and what not. But sometimes it's just difficult to tear myself away from the scroll. I should be cleaning the house. Or doing laundry. Or trying to understand quantum physics. And I'm a teacher. I should almost always be lesson planning. So yeah, more living, less Facebooking.

My 5 Teenage Superpowers

I'm not sure what prompted my brain to shift into reverse and start thinking about my high school horror days, but something made me wander there today. So I figure I might as well take advantage of it, at least while I still have the ability to remember anything at all.

If I'm being honest, I wasn't exactly the homecoming queen, nor was I one of the most "popular" girls. What can I say?

Nerd Alert Reaction Gif

I did, however, have a variety of fabulous superpowers as a teenager, which I'm only too happy to share with you now as a means to pass the time in truly Tinalicious style. Maybe you had these superpowers too. Let's find out, shall we? Come on now...this is going to involve a bit of time traveling. Hold on.

Wayne Garth Time Traveling

The Power of Invisibility
Yes, folks, I had the miraculous ability to stand in any room in my high school and be completely unseen for vast periods of time. This didn't happen all the time, and it really was quite involuntary on my part, but it did happen without warning on numerous occasions. Teachers would mark me absent when I was sitting at my desk. I could raise my hand (when I occasionally knew the answer to the teacher's question) and not be chosen to share my [questionable] wisdom with the class. And frequently in gym class I would be the last person selected for any team--I mean really, it's like they couldn't see me at all until I was the last one standing there. And eventually I really had to wonder...

Friends Chandler Invisibility Reaction Gif

Interestingly enough, I still have this superpower to this day, though it only happens when I'm in public places, and frequently when there's some hot gal standing next to me. Yep, I become completely invisible. Weird.

The Power to Repel Volleyballs
The only game I liked in gym class was volleyball. Even though I sucked at it. I totally enjoyed it. But the thing I didn't enjoy was my power to repel volleyballs with certain parts of my anatomy.

Volley Ball Repellent Reaction Gif

Strangely, there's no real benefit to this superpower. Other than to make everyone in gym class laugh at you, which I did on more than one occasion.

The Power to Believe I was Fat
This power was, like, all too powerful. From about 1981, I truly believed I was fat. I believed no clothes fit me. I believed that everything made me look fat--except sweatpants and bib overalls. Believe. It. And I believed that starving myself and taking diet pills was the sure-fire way to fix my utter fatness.

These sweatpants are all that fit me reaction gif

You know, I can only wish now that I was as fat as I THOUGHT I was in high school. Dude, I would kill to be that fat. Not a person or anything. And not an animal. Maybe a mosquito. Yeah, a bug of some sort. I don't think PETA could complain too much about that.

The Power of Absenteeism. Particularly my junior year.
After moving away from all of my friends at the end of the 10th grade I grew very depressed. So by the time my junior year started I took hating school to an all new level. As a result, I missed a lot of school my junior year. A LOT. I just hated being there. It all seemed so pointless.

Ferris Bueller Reaction Gif

I will say though that by my senior year I got out of my funk and managed to quit missing so much school, and basically get my crap together. Go, me.

My Powers of Song
I had the uncanny ability and wonderful power to do synchronized lady dancing while singing chart toppers a capella.

Pitch Perfect Bellas gif

OK. Maybe that last one is a lie. But considering there is a Pitch Perfect 2 movie in the making, it's never really too soon to throw out a Pitch Perfect movie reference, should the opportunity arise. A-ca believe it.

So there you go. My 5 Teenage Superpowers, which I bet you never knew I had. And maybe you had some of them too? Do tell. Drop me a comment and let me know.

The 80's Called

I saw a video on YouTube today and what I can say, I loved it. Even though it's just a commercial. A Radio Shack commercial, in fact. And while I'm not really one to promote commercials, when it's all about The 80's I just have to share it.

Dude, I. Have. To.

Duckie Pretty in Pink reaction gif

So let's all jump in our DeLorean, shall we, and travel back in time to the glorious 80's. For approximately 1 minute and 1 second anyway. To the land of legwarmers, and big hair, and dancing raisins, and even Alf.

See? How much more awesomely 80's can you get on a Thursday, I ask you?! Now admit it. You enjoyed that jaunt through your Ponch-sized past, Right? And it kind of made you want to get up dance. Just a little bit.

Breakfast Club Reaction Gif

I don't think it's necessarily going to help the store chain that much, considering they're closing so many of their stores around the country. But at least they have good taste. I'll give them that much.

And now I return you back to the future...of the present, so that you can enjoy the rest of your day. Any questions?

Reality Check 80s Style

As a former teen of the 80's, I've gotta visit The 80's once in awhile, so for today's Semi-Wordless Wednesday I thought we'd go 80's at the same time.

Dressed in the 80s Meme

Now put on some Madonna, grab some leg warmers, and lets kick this Hump Day's ass, 80's style!

Semi-Wordless 80's Wednesday

The 80's.

What can I say about the 80's? Well, you know what they say: a picture is worth a thousand words. So...

The 80's Meme

It wasn't a perfect decade by any means.

But it had E.T.
And Back to the Future.
And Pac Man.
And California Raisins commercials
And Princess Diana's wedding.
And "Who Shot J.R.?" T-Shirts.
And legwarmers.
And an MTV that actually played music videos.
And Michael Jackson.

The 80's rocked.

My Friday Confessions 6-14

Time once again for another rendition of My Friday Confessions. I know you wait for these with baited breath, so let's get to it!
My Friday Confessions Logo

1.  I think 80's hair is cool. 80's hair really gets a bad rap, in my opinion. I think it was the height of coolness, like, literally. OK, well maybe not Flock-Of-Seagulls-Cool.

Flock of Seagulls Hair

But definitely a Madonna or a Janet Jackson 80's hair kind of cool.

Madonna 80's Hair

Janet Jackson 80's Hair

Seriously, what is wrong with that hair? There are a lot of things that should have stayed in the 80s--like shoulder pads...or neon colors. But 80's hair? I think not. Bring on the big bangs and the hair that reaches to Heaven. Even Jersey girls can appreciate that.

2.  If I'm doing a Google image search and a random penis shows up in the search results, I enlarge the photo to view it full size. Let me just say that I don't go around Googling penises. I'm married, after all, so I can see a penis any time I want to. But if one happens to pop up in Google images when I'm searching for something else--as penises are occasionally known to do--then, well, I'll be damned if I'm not going to enlarge the photo and have a peek. If you can't be a semi-anonymous man-parts voyeur on Google, then what is the point of the Internet?

3.  I have an irrational hate for the word, 'splice.' Let's face it, one day someone decided that the words 'split' and 'slice' should hook up. And that became like, a thing, that then became a word. And some words are just annoying. 'Splice' is an annoying word, dammit. It just is. Because it is.

4.  People who write 'should of' when they mean 'should have' annoy the crap out of me. Get your grammar together, people.

5.  And speaking of penises, I'm tormented by the inexplicable existence of vampire erections. I'm a Twilight fan. And I'm an
obsessedaddict where The Vampire Diaries is concerned. Can you blame me?

Shirtless Vampire Diaries

Excited Minions Reaction Gif

But even though I am fully capable of suspending disbelief for every hour of TVD that I watch, because of, um, the reasons clearly displayed in the photo above, I am still confused by the notion that vampires can have, you know, erections. I'm happy to keep pondering it though, as long as the vampire eye candy continues to keep me...compelled.

Now I think I'm going to go ponder this further...perhaps on Google.

80's Meme Mania

Well, I decided that since I did an 80's Flashback Friday, I'd start off the week with a bit of 80's inspired Meme Mania. Who wouldn't want to start off the week back in the 80's, am I right?

80's Flashback Friday

As I sit here desperately trying to think of what to blog about today, I was browsing through Google images and came across some photos that were totally 80's. And then it hit me: Flashback Friday! So I decided I'd share some of my favorite memories of things and people from the 80's. You know, like, totally. After all, all the coolest people grew up in the 80's. Ahem. So lets travel back in time to that glorious decade of big hair and acid-washed denim that served to usher me into my teen years with quasi reckless abandon.

The 80's Rock Meme

One of my favorite things from the 80's, for probably no other reason than the fact that everyone else had them, was novelty shoelaces.

The 80's Shoelaces

I don't know who decided these were cool exactly, but seriously, most of us had them. They came in so many different styles, the possibilities were endless. No matter how cool your shoes were, they just weren't cool enough unless you had some fun shoelaces to go with them. Go figure.

And to go with our acid-washed, and straight-legged jeans, we also needed one very important accessory:

The 80's Combs

That's right,  you had to carry a comb...in your back pocket. Not in your purse. It had to be your back pocket. And really, they made you so cool. Fer sure. And those of us creative folks would also jazz them up with markers, paint, and whatever else we could find. We'd usually put our name on them too. After all, if you lost your comb, you'd want that cool piece of back-pocket-bling to be returned to you. Even if it was all grody, to the max.

And dang, where would the world of video games be today if we hadn't had these in the 80's:

The 80's Pac Man

Going to the local arcade was "the thing" to do back then. Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man (clearly she was a liberated and proud feminist since she was "Ms" rather than "Miss"), Frogger...that was the stuff of Friday nights, and weekends back in the day. I wish I had all the money I spent on video games back then. I could probably buy my grandson the new XBox.

One of my absolute favorite things about the 80's though, and I'm almost not ashamed to say it, was leg warmers!

The 80's Leg Warmers

At some point, you just HAD to have leg warmers to be cool. And to be REALLY cool, you had to have lots of them. You can blame Jane Fonda, or Olivia Newton-John if you weren't a leg warmer kind of 80's gal, but I totally was. I loved them. I wore my leg warmers until they fell apart. Was I a dancer? A gymnast? Hell to the no. I was just one of those oh so cool peeps who got cooler by way of those footless wonders that looked like sleeves that had been cut off of sweaters. The glory of the 80's at its finest.

But what about the people and music of the 80's? I can't forget about them. So lets' start with my major 80's fangurl crush. And that was the one and only, Rick Springfield.

The 80's Rick Springfield

Just look at him, OK?

Fan-Girling Reacting Gif

I first saw him on General Hospital, as Dr. Noah Drake. One look was all it took, and he had me wishing I was Jessie's Girl. General Hospital was at its hottest back then, and Rick Springfield sure added to the hotness factor. HOT-ness. Ohmigod! Fer sure.

And I guess I can't wax nostalgic about the 80's without talking about the one and only Madonna too.

The 80's Madonna

I don't think anyone can argue the fact that the Material Girl helped to define the 80's. I remember the first time I saw Madonna perform; it was on the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards. She sang 'Like a Virgin,' and rolled around on stage wearing a bridal-ish gown and a necklace that read, 'Boy-Toy.' My parents were mortified. I thought she was tubular, er, awesome. Whether you loved Madonna then or hated her, without her we'd have missed out on those awesome 80's fashion must-haves like lace gloves, headbands, too many bracelets, and religious jewelry. And oh yeah, wearing bras without shirts. Would you really  have wanted to miss out on that? As if.

And last but not least, I can't talk about the 80's without talking about Michael Jackson. Michael's career was skyrocketing in the 80's and he was setting (and selling) all kinds of records. I can't even think about the 80's without also immediately thinking about Thriller.

The 80's Michael Jackson Thriller

Photo Courtesy of My Eternal Angel, on Tumblr

I loved the album--you know, like back when we still had real albums. I played it over and over and over again. And I still remember the first time I saw the Thriller short film on MTV. It was  like a movie and it was amazing. I watched it every chance I could--and the Billie Jean short film too. You may not know it, but Billie Jean was the first video by a black artist to ever air on MTV, which was after their initial refusal to air the video AT ALL. But with the popularity of Billie Jean, and the unprecedented popularity of Thriller, Michael Jackson brought MTV into the mainstream. To many people (no, not just me, ahem), the 'M' in MTV stood for Michael. He was a true pioneer, who helped create and change music history, one leg kick, a-hee-hee, and moonwalk at a time. And Thriller is still, over thirty years later, the best selling album of all time. *Thanks, Michael.*

So I guess that's enough road-tripping through my icon-filled 80's past. It was quite the wild ride back then. Looking back on it, I still believe it was a decade of magic, and maybe a little madness. But it was worth it. If only I could return there for a visit once in awhile...but OK, Tina, time to get Back to the Future while I can still remember how. :)

Have a good weekend.

Like, totally.

3 Eras of MJ Memes

Today's Michael Jackson meme day features MJ from 3 different eras: the 80's/Thriller era, the Dangerous era, and well, the older MJ era. Something for everyone.  And a couple of them feature some guest stars. ;)

Today's Michael Jackson memes all feature Michael back in the day, um, my day, The 80's. I made the first one, but the other two I found online.  They did make me L-O-L. For reals. ;)  So naturally I wanted to share them with yous. [And no, there's no particular reason why I'm making random words plural today. That's just how I rolls sometimes.]

And you know, nothing says the 80's like Mr T. Am I right?

No doubt about it, folks. Michael Jackson ruled the 80's! Gawd I miss those days. You know, when Moonwalking had nothing to do with NASA;  when glittery socks and a fedora meant MJ was getting his Billie Jean on; and when Thriller was the number one selling album of all time. Oh, shamone...wait a  daggone minute...

IT STILL IS! (Take that, Justin Bieber!)

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Movie Night With the Hubs

Saturday night seems to be a regular movie night for the Hubs and me anymore. I love movies. Frankly, I could watch movies every single night and be perfectly happy. After all, I've been a movie fan ever since I can't remember, and truth be told, I could have been a famous actress, rubbing elbows with hot vampires in Hollywoodland...had I so chosen. I could have had it all. The stalkers adoring fans...the red carpet...the fame...the fortune. But who needs that, right?

Well not me! No. I'm perfectly content to be the almost middle class, semi-ordinary, not-quite starving artist/blogger/former art teacher, who lives in the hideously boring flatlands of northwest Ohio with her husband, watching movies on Saturday night. Hollywood, Schmollywood. THIS is living!

But anyhoots...I was flipping through our vast array of On Demand video options for this evening. I saw plenty of flicks that I'd enjoy watching, but the Hubs? Probably not so much. And I saw plenty of flicks that he would enjoy watching. But me? Probably not so much. And that's always the biggest challenge on movie night: finding a movie we'll both enjoy watching.

So he suggests Terminator: Salvation.

Terminator Salvation Movie Poster

And all I can do is roll my eyes and I sigh.

I mean, the only salvation I'll get from a Terminator movie is if I don't have to watch it. The first one rocked. The second one...it was OK. The Third? Yawn.  But damn. Let the machines die already.

Then I suggest the rom-com,  The Back-Up Plan.

The Back Up Plan Movie Poster

Surely a chick flick about a  single woman who gets pregnant with twins via artificial insemination, only to meet the man of her dreams on the very same day, that has to have some redeeming quality in the Hubs' eyes, right? Doesn't Jennifer Lopez's ass count for anything?

Apparently  not.

So it was clear fairly quick we weren't going to agree on a movie via On Demand. And I wasn't much in the mood to wade through my library of all my favorite DVD's. But then I remembered that I had recently bought a special edition of the Tom Hanks movie, Big and hadn't yet watched it.

Big Movie Poster

It's been years since we've seen that, but it's a great movie, a classic,  and  has something for both sexes, to be sure. So I gave him a choice.

"I guess I can either let you pick something on TV (which in reality is just code for him flipping channels for two hours), or we can watch that DVD of Big that I just bought."

His reply? "Isn't that movie kind of...OLD?"

"Um, it's from the late 80's. That's not that old. It's in color and everything," I told him.

And he just rolled his eyes and sighed.

But then he shoots back a counter offer: "I say, you can put Big in, or we can watch that DVD of Close Encounters you bought me for Christmas."

Close Encounters Movie Poster

Dammit, man. Where is that crappy memory of yours when I really need it? He can't remember what we had for dinner last night, but he can remember that I got him the collector's edition of Close Encounters for Christmas--two weeks ago?!  WTH, dude?! And like I can really say no to letting him watch the movie I'd given him as a gift. Man, he's good.

And so I just rolled my eyes and sighed.

But on the way to the DVD player, I did have to point out one very important bit of cinematic trivia to the Hubs.

"You do realize that this movie is OLD, don'tcha, fella? It's from all the way back in...1977."

Reality Checking

You know, sometimes I feel like I'm still a kid. OK, well, maybe not a "kid," but a teenager, to be sure.  It's mostly when I'm staying up too late, or watching my favorite 80's flicks (a certain Boom Box Serenade comes to mind), or jamming to some classic Michael Jackson. I just wrap myself in a little bit of denial and pretend I'm 30 or so years younger, and 50 pounds lighter, and sans any obnoxiously wiry gray hairs. No judgment, please. It's not like I'm hiding in my room, smoking a joint, and trying to disguise the odor with air freshener or something! Not like I ever did that anyway.

Boombox Serenade Say Anything

Other times, I feel like I'm exactly my age. F-O-R-T-Y + F-O-U-R. That's mostly when I'm paying bills, or cooking dinner while trying to wash some dishes and sort through the day's mail all at the same time, or jamming to some classic Michael Jackson (what can I say, his music spans the ages). It's not so bad being 44, right? I mean, there are worse things I could be. Like 84. And I like what my 44-year-old brain knows. There's some  occasionally-whacked wisdom up there. There's knowledge. And there's that whole "knowledge-is-power-thing." I wouldn't trade all that for all the big hair and leg warmers of my youth, or for all the vampires named Edward in the world.

[Um, well, maybe that's taking it a bit too far there.  One can't be too hasty where Edward is concerned.]

Robert Pattinson Twilight

But there also times when I feel O.L.D. And you know, not in the good way. Yesterday was a perfect example. I had gone to the bank to open a new checking account. Naturally, one of my former students was helping me, which automatically  makes me feel old.  Unfortunately, it didn't stop there.

I was debating which kind of checking account to open. Apparently, there are like seven different kinds, all with different requirements, and as "Annie" rattled the requirements off to me I was feeling a bit overwhelmed.  So "Annie" was trying to help me narrow it down, but she kept pushing for the Merit Plus Checking. She mentioned it several times, so I was thinking it must be good and thought I might go with it. But being as that I am a visual person, I wanted to see the requirements on paper, so "Annie" gave me a brochure to help me in making a visual comparison, again suggesting that Merit Plus would be a great choice for me.

And then there it was. The moment I felt older than I've ever felt in my forty-four-year-old life. Right there in black and white...the second requirement for the Merit Plus Checking:

Must be age 50 or better.

WTH? This girl thinks I'm 50? Or "better?"

I am so not kidding when I tell you that I had to choke back at least one tear right there in the chair of that glass-enclosed cubicle that apparently has the heinous power to make banking customers look older than they are.  I. Was. Mortified.  Do I really look 50 years old? Is this girl for real?

Me Tinalicious

That photo was taken about 6 months ago. And trust me. I can't have aged that much in six months. That's how I looked then. And that's how I look now. I know I don't look 20 or anything. But 50? Really?

And to make matters even worse, when I told her I wasn't yet 50, it didn't phase her at all. There were no outwardly signs of embarrassment for having aged me six years right in front of her. No apology for the arrow through my heart. Nothing. Unbelievable.

You know, I don't really have a major problem with getting older. I don't welcome it with open arms. I don't celebrate every new gray hair. I don't worship my ever-increasing wrinkle count or the skin that now sags in places that are more and more difficult to conceal. But, I don't obsess about the aging process either. I'm getting older. I can't stop that. Time marches on. And as Miss Truvy (a.ka. Dolly Parton) said in Steel Magnolias, "eventually you realize it's marchin' all over your face!"

Amen, Truvy. Amen.

But that being said, I certainly don't want to be 50...before I am actually 50. Lord o'mercy. Let's not freaking rush it.

So that was my dose of reality checking for yesterday. 50 for a day. What an F'd up interesting way to bring 2010 to a close, eh?  Should be interesting to see what 2011 brings. ;)

Happy 44th Birthday to Me

Yeah, so I'm turning 44 today. Please bear with me as I attempt to contain my enthusiasm. Ahem.

I decided that my blog post for today could go one of two ways:
A. I could impart some of my insightful wisdom and share the keys to the mysteries of life that I've acquired in my 44 years.

OR

B. I could make a list of the top 5 things I'd like for my birthday--if money were no object and the sky was the limit.

Hmmm. Tough call. But I think I'm going with option B.  What could be more fun than to share in my own self-serving personal wish list from the slightly twisted but Tinaliciously tasty world of birthday fantasy?  So, without further ado or pomp and circumstance, here is my fantasy birthday wish list.

5. An all expenses paid trip to Paris and London. First Class, of course, with enough spending money to shop at all the Parisian stores I can't even begin to pronounce, and to buy all the tacky British souvenirs that backwards Yanks like myself are sure to enjoy. And while we're at it, I'll need enough money left over to hire a personal trainer upon my return home...because I'm sure to put on 20 pounds on such an inevitably food-filled trip across the pond. And trust me on this: I do not need another 20 pounds of junk in my trunk.

Small Eiffel Tower

4. A Housekeeper. Not because I'm lazy, but because housework sucks, life is short, and because I'd rather be blogging anyway.  And since this is my fantasy wish list...here's my fantasy housekeeper:

Brad Pitt Hotness

The muscle shirt would be totally optional, of course. And just look at him, he's totally ready to make the bed. Or something.

3. Enough money and resources to find out what really happened to Michael Jackson. Let's be real here, peeps. The fact that MJ's doctor is still a free man, still practicing medicine, still taking vacations and still enjoying all the joys of fatherhood (so voraciously documented by TMZ on a regular basis) that Michael is missing because he's rotting in a crypt---that tells me that something is seriously stanky in the California justice system. The way it looks now, Lindsay Lohan is gonna spend more time in jail than Conrad Murray will.  I'd like nothing more than to understand why that is. Especially considering how remorseful he appears to be...

Conrad Murry Asshole Murderer

2. For the Hubs to know what Duckie knows. Duckie is the character played by Jon Cryer in Pretty in Pink, one of my fave classic 80's flicks. In one of my all time favorite movie scenes, Duckie comes sliding into the record store where his friend Andie (played by Molly Ringwald) works, and  he lip syncs to the Otis Redding hit, Try a Little Tenderness. And that song Duckie fake croons and dances to is the answer to many questions related to this girl's emotional highs and lows. Am I tired and grumpy? Try a Little Tenderness. Am I stressed from doing the unending weekly bills? Try a Little Tenderness. Am I less than affectionate when you're "in the mood." Try a Little Tenderness. Don't take my word for it though. Let Duckie tell you.

1. A Twilight-themed cake, hand delivered by R.Patz (a.k.a. Edward Cullen) himself.

Twilight Birthday Cake

And I'll be a good girl. Really. I promise.  I won't touch him or anything.

RPattz Twilight Lick Finger

Unless he wants me to help him lick that frosting off his thumb or something. [No judgment, people, it's my birthday.]

So there's my birthday fantasy wish list, which took far too long to write. This 44-year-old brain just ain't what it used to be. Yeah, I should have stuck at 39. Is it too late to go back?

Gosh, I'm whiny when I'm tired. But you know what they say...

It's my party and I'll whine if I want to.

They F*ck You at the Drive Thru

McDonalds Drive Thru

As I went through the Mickey D's drive thru yesterday to grab a quick and fattening-but-oh-so-tasty lunch, I placed my usual order:

McDouble, no onions

Large Fries

Sweet tea, no ice

Yes, I'm one of those people, the ones who want to break away from the default not-so-fast-food preparation and get it my own way. It's not because I'm trying to be a pain though I don't really care if I am one. I just want what I want, is that so bad? I mean, I am paying for it, so it seems I should get what I'm paying for, no?

I don't get onions because they give me bad breath. I don't like onion breath. On me or anyone else.

And I don't get ice in my tea because if I do, then the cup is 2/3 full of ice and only 1/3 full of tea. That's just not good economics, in my humble opinion. Why pay for ice? If I want ice, I'll add it when I get home. But it's tea, people. And hot, warm or cold, it still tastes like tea. So going sans ice is no problemo for this chick.

Anyhoots. I always watch the order screen as I place my order at Mickey D's. When I say "no onions," then "no onions" shows up on the screen. And ditto when I say "no ice" in the Sweet Tea. That's just visual confirmation that I am indeed going to get what I ordered. But yesterday, when the gal took my order, I did not see "no ice" under my order of Sweet Tea. So, just to be clear, I repeated it for her: "and no ice in that Sweet Tea, please." To which she replies, "yes, OK."

So I pull up to the 1st window, which still amazes me is in use, by the way, for the simple fact that it was put to use as a means to speed up the "fast food" process. But I personally haven't noticed any change in pace at the drive thru since the extra window's implementation, so what is the point? But I paid for my order and pulled ahead and waited (naturally) for my food and beverage.

The giddy gal at window #2 [and why is she so giddy if she works at Mickey D's?] hands me my Sweet Tea. And what is that noise I hear inside my decidedly un-eco-friendly styrofoam cup? Um, that's right. It's ICE. So, being that I'm one of those people, I promptly hand my environment-killing cup back to her and say, "I requested this with no ice. Twice, in fact." And as I did so, I couldn't help but flashback to one of my all time favorite 80's movie moments. It's from Lethal Weapon 2. The Drive Thru scene. Where Joe Pesci's character, Leo Getz, lays the much needed smack down on drive thru service everywhere. And I literally laughed out loud, right there in my car.

If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about, but if you haven't, you have to see the clip. [CAUTION: Rampant F-Bombs Ahead!]

That scene with Leo still gets me every time I see it. He is oh so right. They F*ck You at the Drive Thru. But thanks to Leo, I always check my order, before I drive away.

I'm sure the drive thru gal thought I was insane, sitting there laughing to myself in my car.  But she pretended not to notice and apologized for the fast food faux pas with my tea as she handed me a new one, without ice. And I'm equally sure she had a good laugh herself with a co-worker or two after I drove away.

Coworker, to the snickering drive thru gal: What is so funny?

Drive thru gal: Nothing. Just one of those people.
